"Daily Do" makes the difference in a school orchestra audition

Hi Michiko,

This is Leslie with my studio update since you set that fire under me in Hawaii.

Not only have I managed to carve out time for regular Music Mind Games group classes twice a month, but the students always sing their "Daily Do" and prepare a portion of a review song to solfege at each lesson.

We have not been at it very long, yet the applications are becoming so obvious to the students.

The most dramatic result has been when one of my students auditioned for the local school orchestra. Many public school teachers seem to have a mantra for Suzuki students (I'm a Suzuki teacher) - "I have to put you into the beginning orchestra until you learn to read." Well, this student said, "Oh, do you mean read like this?" and proceeded to sing and sign a portion of the orchestra part that was sitting out on a nearby music stand. You can imagine the face on the teacher. Needless to say, the student was allowed to play with the group at his level!

Please let me know if you will be in Los Angeles. I would love to make a workshop for my families and fellow teachers.

Cheers,
Leslie Katz (immamusic@sbcglobal.net)

Hi Leslie - Way to make my day. This is a great story. Congratulations to your student and may he or she enjoy many happy hours in orchestra. I loved playing in orchestra (I also play violin) for years. Very happy to hear the positive effect "Daily Do" and Music Mind Games is having on you and your studio.

Are you interested in organizing a Unit 1 TT workshop in LA?

Cheers back,
michiko

Michiko - I would love to organize a Unit 1 TT workshop. Give me a to do list so that I can give it some careful thought. Leslie
