Using Music Mind Games at a summer workshop in Princeton, NJ
Hi Michiko,
Just a short note to say that the MMG was so well received at the Try-It-Out Camp
at Westminster Conservatory in August. I taught 5 classes a day for two weeks, a total of 57 1st to 3rd graders trying out piano, violin or cello.
The other faculty observed the games and brought it into their teaching - Dalcroze, private lessons or chorus - and we were all on the same page! The kids loved it, too.
I stuck mostly with Blue Jello rhythms and solfege because they are a common denominator, and I wanted them to be proficient enough in something to remember it forever. We also did some staff work with landmarks, tempo cards, and matching rhythm card games. They got Really Good on all the Blue Jello rhythms and hand signs, and the better they got, the more focused they became.
Thanks for MMG!!!!
