Real Rhythm Cards Set

The real rhythm cards set consists of real rhythm cards, time signature cards, the Real Rhythm Cards Ideas booklet, gold coins and magic notes. The real rhythm cards are unique since the length of each card shows the relative value of the notes and rests. There are two sets of 14 different time signature cards. The set includes a custom binder so it easy and efficient to organize and use the cards. Gold coins and magic notes complete the set and are used to reinforce the rhythm math values of the cards.

Real rhythm cards and time signature cards provide a versatile means to study rhythm and meter and learn the relative values of notes and rests. They are used in games to help students understand note and rest values and during individual lessons when students encounter tricky rhythms. There are multiple copies of cards to write rhythms, play games and take rhythmic dictation. 

The cards can be used with all levels of students: beginning, intermediate and advanced. They are designed to be used by teachers as well as by students (and parents) in practice sessions. Combined with the Blue Jello vocabulary found on the back of each card, the real rhythm cards can help solve the mysteries of rhythm with joyful learning based in self-discovery.

Features of the Cards - Side 1
1	The length of each real rhythm card matches the value of the note, rest or group of notes on the card
2	Note cards have a horizontal line since the sound continues for the length of the card
3	Rest cards do not have lines since they represent silence
4	Whole rests in different meters are included. Those other than 4/4 are distinguishable by a small drawing of Freddie
5	A few notes that are drawn differently when inverted are distinguishable by a small drawing of Freddie
6	Ties in four lengths are included
7	Repeat signs, appoggiaturas and acciaccaturas are included
Features of the Cards - Side 2
1	Notes and rests are identified in Blue Jello words and American musical notation vocabulary
2	The value of the notes and rests is shown in gold coins and magic notes
3	The matching Blue Jello drawing is included
4	A colored border in one of eight rhythm rainbow colors shows the rhythmic duration of the notes and rests making it easy to match real rhythm cards to the blue jello word cards and other materials
5	There are two sets of 14 different time signature cards for study and for game playing. Side 1 shows the time signature Side 2 shows what the two numbers mean

Cutting your cards: Except for the whole notes, whole rests and guide cards, the real rhythm cards need to be cut into the proper lengths for the notes and rests. It is easy to do this. Please read Michiko's recommendations for this Fiscars paper cutter (available worldwided) that works great for this project and watch the video below. The time signature cards are precut and come in an organza bag with the gold coins, magic notes and the sixteenth rest cards.

Laminating your cards: It is recommended not to laminate your cards. Besides not being green (so much plastic), laminating will add a glare to the cards, make them too stiff and add edges so the cards may not meet together properly. The binder pockets were not designed to accommodate thicker, laminated cards. The cards are specially coated to provide durability and just enough weight to make them easy to use.
