Staff Slates Pack

The staff slates pack is a set of 12 two-sided cards measuring 11” x 16”. Students use these versatile cards and accessories to place clefs, write notes, write intervals, use ledger lines, write key signatures, scales, triads, chords, learn solfege, and practice sight-singing and take dictation. Game Ideas include solfege and Curwen hand signs chart, photos and 5 entertaining games.

The cards: There are twelve identical cards with different colored borders, each with one small Music Mind Games kid to add a little humor for students and show up and down orientation.

• Side 1: The grand staff has printed clefs and only enough space for the three notes (B, middle C and D) found between the clefs to make it easy for students to learn the relationship between the two staffs. 
• Side 2: The single staff is without a clef so students can choose the clef they want to use.

Accessories: Twelve sets of transparent clefs are in cheerful colors, blue (like the sky) for treble clef, green (like the grass) for bass clef and red (the do re mi rainbow color for do). Each clef has a cute little face to subtly direct the student to the line that carries the clef's letter name. The clear ledger line sheets can be used when needed - just like real music. Accidentals include sharps, flats, naturals, double sharps, and double flats. Six bags are included to hold accessories for two or more students.

Magic notes and magic wand: Magic notes are used as notes and/or markers in games. The tones of the scale can be written with the colorful magic notes using a system of do re mi rainbow colors: do = red, re = orange, mi = yellow, fa = green, so = blue, la = indigo, ti = purple, and do = red. The magic wand makes clean-up fun and quick.

Staff Slates Pack Game Ideas:
Teachers may use their own ideas with the cards, but games are included for guidance and to spark the imagination:

	Game 1: Hello Grand Staff (Side 1) Students echo sing with the teacher to learn all the components of the grand staff while singing the major scale
	Game 2: Melodic Dictation (Side 1 or Side 2) Students use magic notes to write short melodic patterns on the staff, then sing them using solfege and Curwen hand signs
	Game 3: The Five C’s (Side 1) Students place magic notes to learn the symmetrical arrangement of the C’s on the grand staff.
	Game 4: Tap Tap Pluck Pluck (Side 1 or Side 2) Students place magic notes on the staff to relate notes to their instruments
	Game 5: Fine - Key Signatures (Side 1 or Side 2) Students practice fifths and learn to write key signatures on the staff using the transparent sharps and flats.
	Game 6: Daily Do on Staff Slates Writing "Daily Do" from memory on staff slates shows students how the music they sing looks when written on lines and spaces. Students are happy to do this and it is remarkably easy.

How do the Panda 1 Pack staff slates pack differ from the staff slate that comes with the Puppy Packet? There are 12 staff slates in Panda 1, each with a solid color border (blue, pink, yellow, orange, green or purple) which matches the borders of the melodic bingo cards and the paper pianos. The Puppy Packet slate has one card with a rainbow border. The staff slates in the Panda 1 are slightly narrower in order to match the size of the melodic bingo cards. They are not cut and do not fold like the Puppy Packet slate and are very convenient to use in any size of a group.
