In Brief:
Use rhythm playing cards to create an animal to practice stacking the sequence of sixteenth, eighth, dotted eighth, etc. notes and rests. This game is a necessity before playing the favorite games Slow and Speed (Second Steps). Different from previous games, the sequence can reverse itself at any time. It's also the first time cards are played in piles. This is more difficult than Fine & Snake presentations.
Objectives:
Expand practice opportunities for the sequence of matching notes and rests and reinforcing the concept of the wraparound.
Prerequisite Concepts:
8 notes and 5 rests and the concept of the wraparound from whole note/rest values to sixteenth note/rest values
Teacher's Role:
Presort the cards with students to create a modified, smaller deck. Play the game along with students
Repetitions:
Once through the deck. Game can be repeated many times.
