To practice the relative values of notes and rests using a popular card game with several variations.
Rhythm Bingo - Side 1
This bingo game uses all the rhythms on the blue jello cards - set 1. With the Cornerstones in mind we continue the game until everyone has more than one bingo or even "black-out"
I'm a Note Song - Five C's, G, and F
Sing the "I'm a Note" Song while placing magic notes on the five C's and two clef notes on staff slates
Before and After
Students add a card before and after three, two or one card that the teacher has set out
Daily Do Variations - 1
While learning "Daily Do", students enjoy the variety of these entertaining and skill-building variations. They are naturally encouraged as their memories grow strong when they realize they can do these variations and sing and the same time.
Students pair one music symbol card with one with an opposite meaning until all cards are matched
Who's Playing First? - Notes and Rests
Each student draws one card to decide the order for an informal recital or special activity. Students already know the values of the cards.
Trade the C’s
Students talk to each other and trade the 5 C's, Treble G and Bass F, with animals on magic notes between the grand staff and the piano (or two staff slates). May be adapted for other instruments.
