Who's Playing First? - Notes and Rests
Each student draws one card to decide the order for an informal recital or special activity. Students already know the values of the cards.
Blue Bar Lines
After choosing a meter, students happily and easily place bar lines on a long snake of blue jello cards
Trade the C’s
Students talk to each other and trade the 5 C's, Treble G and Bass F, with animals on magic notes between the grand staff and the piano (or two staff slates). May be adapted for other instruments.
Slow - Seconds
Create ascending and descending seconds in the musical alphabet
Melodic Bingo - Side 1
Enhance reading skills using a traditional bingo game. With the Cornerstones in mind we continue the game until everyone has more than one bingo or even "black-out."
Snake - Symbols
Students make a snake by putting the music symbol cards in the order they are listed on the back cover card
Suspense - Notes and Rests
A fun card game aids in mastering the sequence of equivalent values of notes and rests.
Students feel notes and rests of the same value and how those of unequal value relate to each other. Individual play or as teams.
Grand Staff Cards C's
An important game to help students transition from moving magic notes on the staff to recognizing real notes.
